While Ayia Napa has traditionally been known for its beautiful beaches, in recent years it has become known as a party resort to rival Ibiza, with it making a name for itself hosting world famous DJs. While Ibiza is more for the house music fans, Ayia Napa is the specialist resort for grime and garage music aficionados. Originally a fishing town, Ayia Napa went through a change in the mid-90′s when DJ Nick Power opened the Kool Club. This attracted world famous DJs to the island, and encouraged others to open clubs on in the town. Every year DJs such as Tiesto, Armand van Helden and John Digweed play to tens of thousands of partying sunseekers.
