If you’re looking for a city break, Manchester is a great destination as it’s one of the UK’s most regenerated cities. The city itself has a population of around 465,000, but the surrounding metropolitan area has a total estimated population of just over 2.2 million. This makes it second in the entire United Kingdom in size by population. There are many things to do and places to stay, as well as having a large metropolitan area, including the many Manchester hotels that await guests from around the world.
One of the many things to do is enjoy one of the many sporting events that are held in Manchester, which is famous for its star football team, Manchester United. Not only do visitors come to Manchester for its sports, but its historical architecture ranges from the Victorian red brick to modern steel and glass skyscrapers. There are many cotton mills in the city, as the architecture dates back to the cotton trade in the American colonies, some of which remain intact whilst others have been renovated into flats and offices.
Manchester hotels are plentiful near these wonderful places to visit. Located near China Town is one of these, the Ibis Hotel at the City Centre. Here you can have easy access to the airport as well as both the Piccadilly and Oxford Road rail stations. You can also have access to some of the hot spots for nightlife in the city.
The 1800s Palace Hotel which is just several hundred feet from the Palace Theatre and the shopping district on King Street, is another one of the great Manchester hotels you may want to consider when staying in the downtown area.
